Welcome to My Personal Webpage
I am a laser physicist, specialized in ultrashort pulse laser technology and working at Extreme Light Infrastructure-Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP, Magurele, Romania) facility. Before that, I completed my Ph.D. from the Department of Physics at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST, Daejeon, South Korea). My doctoral research focused on developing a high repetition rate chirped pulse amplification (CPA) system and carrier-envelop phase (CEP) stabilization of the amplified laser pulses. My post-doctoral research at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST, Lisbon, Portugal) revolved around pulse compression techniques, white-light continuum generation, and amplified laser pulse characterization. I have also received my M.Phil. in solid state physics from the Center of Excellence in Solid State Physics, Punjab University (Lahore, Pakistan).
I was an assistant professor at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS, Lahore, Pakistan) for one year. I was involved in teaching and research; my research interests at LUMS were mostly related to laser engineering and technology. I spent five years as an assistant professor at King Saud University (KSU, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia). I played a crucial role in establishing the attosecond laser laboratory with the collaboration of the Max-Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (Munich, Germany). On returning to Pakistan, I joined COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI, Islamabad, Pakistan) as an associate professor. At COMSATS University Islamabad, I established the Research Laboratory of Lasers [RLL] which mainly focused on laser development and instrumentation. I have also initiated a research & development group, a Group of Laser Development (GoLD). I started work on building the low-cost lasers and optical systems from scratch. As an adjunct associate professor again at LUMS, I pioneered establishing the fast optics laboratory. As an experimental laser physicist, I have specialized in designing and developing femtosecond/ultrashort laser systems. I have initiated my own laser research and development group Group of Laser Development [GOLD] dedicated to laser development and other potential applied laser applications.
I am a recipient of several research fellowships, Korea Research Foundation (KRF) doctoral fellowship, Creative Research Institution (CRI) doctoral fellowship, a Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) post-doctoral fellowship, and Laserlab Europe post-doctoral fellowship. My research interests include femtosecond laser development and diagnostics, optical instruments, CEP stabilization, pulse amplification, and shaping, nonlinear optics. |
